Sheffield Hardcourt Bike Polo

As the modern game of bike polo is still evolving, rules evolve from one tournament to the next, but can generally be summarized as:

  • You can use any part of the mallet to play the ball, but to score you must strike it with the round end. Anything else is called a “shuffle”.
  • Don’t put your foot down! If you do, you’re out of play until you can “tap-out” at the middle of the court.
  • Any contact must be “like-to-like”. This means mallet on mallet, body on body, or bike on bike, but “Don’t be a dick!”.
  • First team to 5 goals wins! In timed games, whoever’s leading at the final whistle takes the honours or if the scores are level it goes to the “Golden Goal”.
